Bog Meadows
Bog Meadows is an area, in County Antrim, on the outskirts of west Belfast now mainly of reclaimed land drained by the Blackstaff River,〔Hackney, P. Ed. 1992. ISBN 0-85389-446-9 (HB)〕 grid reference: J3172.〔 It is an area of 47 acres of grassland and woodland managed by the Ulster Wildlife Trust. The M1 motorway passes through this area. Fauna: Insects and sticklebacks are common along the drainage channels along with frogs, smooth newts. The birds recorded include coot, dabchick (also known as little grebe), teal, mallard, tufted duck and moorhen are to be found on the open water along with heron, water rail and snipe at the water's edge.
